Julian Union School District’s school lunch program is catered by a local restaurant- Jeremy's on the Hill. Jeremy Manley, the head chef at the restaurant, is a local resident and graduate of Julian’s schools. Read all about the relationship between Jeremy's on the Hill and JUSD in the Chef Donald Hooper Farm to School Hero Spotlight.

For 6+ years, Julian Elementary and Julian Junior High has hosted a Food Day event, a full day of school devoted for garden education, California agriculture, nutrition, and cooking education. Farmers, non-profits, chefs, and local partners offer experiential workshops throughout the day for Julian students.

In addition to their robust Harvest of the Month program, taste tests, and featured items on the salad bar, JUSD incorporates education on seasonal produce into their monthly Walk to School program, the Bilingual Parents' Cooking Class, and the after school program. Nutrition, gardening, and cooking education are offered to students at Elementary, Junior and High School grade levels.
